eligibility: researchers with a doctorate and relevant organizational units of state universities in Lower Saxony in accordance with Section 2 NHG, and the regional research institutions financed from state funds
Support for the preparation of applications for funding from the European Structural Funds (ERDF, ESF) is excluded.

funding term: up to 18 months

what we promote

The Europe program aims to support universities in Lower Saxony and regional research institutions financed by state funds in their efforts to further expand their Europe-related initiatives and activities in pursuit of excellence in collaborative research.

With a view to aspects of European science and research policy and against the backdrop of European funding such as "Horizon Europe" or "Erasmus+", the Europe Program funds activities such as:

  • Networking and establishing cooperation
  • Participation in European calls for proposals
  • Presentation of research priorities in Lower Saxony

measures eligible for funding

  • Initiating and consolidating collaborations with the aim of forming consortia for a joint application,
  • The preparation of EU applications for funding,
  • Engagement in EU bodies responsible for science policy, in specialist consulting activities for the EU Commission, and exploratory consultations with stakeholders in science policy in Brussels,
  • Presentation of Lower Saxony's research strengths in Brussels.

submit application
The application must be submitted to Department 15 "Europe, International Affairs" of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture. Approval is usually granted within four weeks after checking the plausibility of the funding measure and funding objective.
