Funding is available to researchers who have secured an ERC Starting Grant and wish to establish a professorship – which may also be tenure-track – at a higher education institution in Lower Saxony as part of their project. The grant must have been secured no more than one year ago. To ensure the long-term impact of the funding, the higher education institution must confirm, at the time of application, the availability of a tenured professorship (W2 or W3). The position must be made permanent upon the expiry of the funding or following a possible evaluation.

There is a new application procedure for the “Research Cooperation Lower Saxony–Israel” funding programme. A preliminary proposal process is intended to reduce the burden on all parties involved. It will apply for the first time from the deadline in spring 2027.
